Jasmine has arrived and we spent time in Jim block and blazac coffee. Her treat! Later we saw three different apartments with her. Sadly the one she loved was just rented to someone else.

We had also spent a night in a bar called Katze in Schanze to watch the football game Germany vs Holland. 2-1! Johanna's treat!

She's now staying with me.

五月三十日，讓我記下當天一件重要的事。

10分鐘 presentation，我講地圖點整。

講到波音777由香港飛NY時，阿dean已經話"you asked a good question."

1. 講完，Prof Kwok問：「大學宜家有兩條tracks，research同teaching分開，呢個係pure teaching position，你要give up research了？」

當然明白，我讀教育的theory都係要practice。

2. chem的chan問：「如果你剛才的present要under一個大題目，果個會係咩？」

geometry on sphere，不過後來肥張話呢個題目好趕客。

3. tsing問：「我地d學生由art faculty或者係medicine來，無咩motivation，你會點做？」

呢個問題都唔係呢一科的問題，係所有科所有學生的問題。當然係將math融入生活、art、literature、movies等等啦，好似我睇過套cartoon，係一隻2-D pig住在3-D world……呢個時候，阿dean就話，不如off track一下，佢細個時老師教係3D的我們住在4D的世界， 第四維係個sphere enlarge同shrink。 我心中以為佢講time，當堂愛上呢個dean。仲有，我有提及最standard果d a beautiful mind、a curious incident of the dog in the night time、mc escher等等，都係同數學有關，但又唔係好數學。

4. venus問：「我地有個outreach的jsi，你想教咩？」

當然係以上講果d，唔深入但又有趣。

5. 曾太問：「如果d學生好怕formula咁點？」

我submitted的philosophy內有提及，數學唔一定係formalism同symbolism，我講左咁耐，一條formula都無。

dean：「你有無問題想問？」

事先聲明， 我唔可以教chem同

幾時知道結果？

"soon."

我唔明野時果個樣一定係好出賣我，又可能係science人知道呢d唔係答案，不過佢都係重複一次"very soon."

晚上，DBS咭去conrad有85折，咁就食餐飯啦，個笑話係，我地連原價係幾錢都唔知，85折又點？等crepe時，做左件唔係好禮貌的事，就係大家齊齊上網。我check下email，dean在我面試的兩小時後就email我：

Dear Dr. Lui:

I am writing to offer you a position as.... 

佢真係redefine "very soon"，好，謝謝offer，我考慮下先。問左幾個相識十年的教授，到底我留在education做research好，定係教science好，大家口徑一致，我都係適合教書。話science果份工，好diversify，好適合我多變多野玩的人。

最後，我應允了，原因是我覺得阿dean好clever同witty，跟佢可以學到野。

多謝大學俾我往返香港張flight ticket，多謝俾機會我重新出發，再讀數學物理。一睇度果d，真係好興奮！

我六月第一個星期一返漢堡，七月就回港大上班了。
